Patrick Canning, P.E.
Professional Engineer who previously trained and led a nationwide team of 60+ engineers and project managers across the design engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, SCADA, and interconnection functions. His technical expertise includes PV production modeling and energy estimating, grid interconnection of DERs, electrical engineering and power systems, PV system design and optimization, BESS system design, cost estimation, civil design, and construction support.
Canning Engineers is a specialized electrical engineering firm focused on community solar and distributed generation projects that demand technical rigor, strategic interconnection planning, and hands-on leadership.
Founded by Patrick Canning, PE, the firm was built on more than a decade of experience leading engineering teams responsible for over 500 MW of PV and PV+ESS systems nationwide. After scaling and directing large, multi-disciplinary engineering organizations, Canning Engineers was established to provide a focused, high-touch approach for clients navigating increasingly complex technical environments.
We do not operate as a high-volume drafting service. Instead, we engage deeply in projects that require expert engineering judgment, advanced modeling, and disciplined coordination with utilities, regulators, contractors, and stakeholders.
